Also called "Wangjila" 王紀剌 or Guangjila 廣吉剌, Yongjilie 雍吉烈, and with some more transcriptions. The Onggirat were members of one of the two great branches of the Mongols, "Dierliejin 迭兒列斤" (the other being Niruhun, "Niluwen 尼魯溫"). The wife of Genghis Qan, Börte, was the daughter of a Onggirat chieftain, and the Onggirats therefore are a people that obtained important preferences by the Mongol ruler, and the wifes of all rulers of the Yuan Dynasty 元 were Onggirat, and sons of the Onggirat nobility were enfeoffed with princedoms on Chinese soil.
