The literary type of medical treatises (yijia lei 醫家類) is a sub-category to the literary category of masters and philosophers (zibu 子部) in the collectaneum Siku quanshu 四庫全書. This section includes a wide range of different writings to all aspects of medicine and pharmacology, like acupuncture, moxibustion, diagnosis, medication, paediatrics, gynaecology, ophthalmology, and so on. Traditional Chinese medicine has never been systematically categorized. This section is therefore not divided into smaller parts, and the books are arranged chronologically. It includes 97 books, with an appendix of 6 writings. The most famous are the Huangdi neijing 黃帝內經 and the Bencao gangmu 本草綱目.
